The Saskatchewan Motorcycle Club started its roots in the year 1933 during the great depression. In the early 20th Century the founding members of the Saskatchewan Motorcycle club bonded together to share a camaraderie, an enjoyment, a thrill, and promote the sport of motorcycling, which was a luxury during difficult times on the prairie. The motorcycle club members consisted of individuals, as well as husbands and wives and together with other like minded motorcycle enthusiasts made these gatherings social events. The children of members would also be welcomed to join and be part of the gatherings. During the depression it was a sight to behold for the citizens of Saskatchewan to see a group of motorcycle's traveling down dirt roads. The Saskatchewan Motorcycle Club always had a welcoming demeanor and was often asked to join in on town parades and town events. After World War II the Saskatchewan Motorcycle Club perused a motorcycle activity of the times which was "hill climbing". They would modify the bikes that were available to them at the time and attempt to "climb the hill" to the cheers and encouragement of the crowd. Saskatchewan Motorcycle Club members enjoyed visiting with other motorcycle clubs such as the Manitoba Motorcycle Club. Saskatchewan Motorcycle Club was also known to go down to the United States and participate in motorcycle functions there. The club was at one time active with the A.M.A. (American Motorcycle Association) As time passed not only did the club share good times but also had difficult times. Thankfully the Saskatchewan Motorcycle Club is able to continue its legacy today. |
